Korelasi Antara Tingkat Keparahan Akne Vulgaris Dengan Frekuensi Konsumsi Buah-Buahan Pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Riau
Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous follicles characterized by the presence of comedones, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts in predilection areas like face, shoulders, upper arms, chest and back. Fruits contain nutrients that function as antioxidants that can inhibit oxidative stress as one of the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the severity of acne vulgaris and the frequency of fruit consumption of medical students at Riau University. The assessment of acne vulgaris severity using criteria by Lehmann 2002 and the assessment of frequency of fruit consumption using food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). The basic design of this study is analytic research with the type of research is cross sectional study. The population of this research is the Medical Students of Riau University with the subjects studied are 140 students who come from four active batches in period 2017/2018. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Somers’d correlation test. The results of statistical test showed a very weak negative correlation (r = -0,169) and significant (p = 0,03) between severity of acne vulgaris with the frequency of fruit consumption of medical students at Riau University.
