Strategi Pengembangan Industri Tenun Songket Melayu Di Kota Pekanbaru

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the strategy of developing the Malay songket weaving industry in Pekanbaru City. The population in this study were all Malay Songket weaving industries in Pekanbaru City according to the data of the Pekanbaru City Industry and Trade Office of 15 industries and the samples used in this study were 12 industries because 2 entrepreneurs only sold Malay songket woven products but did not produce their own and 1 industry same owner. Analysis of the data used in this study is to use SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats). The results showed based on an analysis of the internal environment of the Malay songket weaving industry in Pekanbaru City, the IFAS matrix calculation result was 2.88. While the results of the analysis of the external environment obtained by the EFAS matrix calculation of 2.61. Based on the SWOT diagram, it is known that the Malay songket weaving industry in Pekanbaru City is in quadrant 1 position, namely, the strength is greater than the weaknesses and the opportunities are greater than the threat so that the right strategy to be applied to the Malay songket weaving industry in Pekanbaru is the SO strategy namely: 1) Maintaining and improving the quality of products produced to maintain good relationships with customers. 2) Make good use of the skills and expertise of workers to produce new products from the Malay Songket woven fabric. 3) Utilizing strategic locations.
