Studi Karakteristik Pengendara Sepeda Motor Dan Penggunaan Helm Di Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Provinsi Riau

ABSTRACT
Helmet use is very important in driving, because by using a helmet, fatalities due
to an accident while driving can be minimized, as well as protect the head from
impact in the event of an accident. This study aims to determine how the traffic
volume and characteristics of motorcyclists and the opportunities for helmet use in
Kuantan Singingi Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis
method and logistic regression analysis. Data collection was carried out by direct
observation (survey) and distributing questionnaires on the National Road in
Kuantan Singingi Regency (Perintis Kemerdekaan Street, Ahmad Yani Street,
Diponegoro Street, Tuanku Tambusai Street and Proklamasi Street). From the
results of this study, the volume and characteristics of motorcycle riders and the
opportunities for helmet use in Kuantan Singing district were obtained. The
conclusion obtained is that the highest behavior of motorcycle riders in Kuantan
Singingi Regency occurs at 16:00-17:00 WIB, namely drivers who use helmets
(driving themselves) with a total of 242 vehicles/hour. The highest volume of
motorbike riders in Kuantan Singingi Regency occurs on Sundays at 16:00-17:00
with a total of 825 vehicles/hour. The highest average volume occurs during peak
hours, namely 07:00-08:00, 09:00-10:00,14:00-15:00 and 16:00-17:00. Based on
the characteristics and opportunities of motorcycle riders, 14 variables that have a
relationship with the use of helmets consist of 7 variables where the variables are
age, education, number of passengers, compliance images, helmet use, helmet
straps and head injuries. Furthermore, it was found that motorcycle riders who
passed on the National Road into urban areas in Kuantan Singingi Regency were
included in the obedient category in the rules for using helmets when driving.
