Pengaruh Penggunaan Hidrogen Peroksida (H2o2) Terhadap Kuat Tekan Dan Penyerapan Air Pada Bata Ringan

ABSTRACT
The increasing demand for bricks makes many alternatives to bricks is lightweight
bricks. Lightweight bricks is an innovation form conventional bricks which has a
lighter density. Lightweight bricks are made by inserting foam into cement
mixture during the cement paste manufacturing process so that it has brighter
than conventional brick therefore lighweight bricks are widely used in high
building. The addition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can make foam so that it can
lighten the density of lightweight bricks. The study aimes to analyze the
compressive strength and water absorption of lightweight bricks and compare the
effectiveness of sand in manufacture of lightweight bricks. The sand used are
Teratak Buluh sand (P1) and Kulim sand (P2). P1 has mud concent less than 5%
while P2 has mud content more than 5%. Objects made in a cube with size of
10 cm. Variation in the addition H2O2 is 0%; 0,5%; 1,0%; 1,5%; 2,0% dan 2,5%
by weight of cement. Before starting the manufacture of test specimens, the
charachtereristic of sands are tested first and then job mix design, after that was
made and curing with total is 96 objects lighweight bricks. Then the compressive
strength test was carried out of 3 days, 7 days and 28 days and water absorption
test was carried out at 28 days. The result of this study reveal the optimum
compressive strength at 28 days with variations in the addition of 1,0% H2O2 in
lightweight bricks P1 is 1,185 MPa with 17,08% water absorption and 2,0% H2O2
in lightweight bricks P2 is 0,825 MPa with 22,61% water absorption. Based on
this research, it can be that addition of hydrogen peroxide can increased the
pressure on lightweight bricks P1 12,86% and on lightweight bricks P2 98,79%
but can’t lighter density on lightweight bricks. The smaller water absoption so the
highess compressive strength on lightweight bricks. The greater mud content in
sand used manufactured lightweight bricks so make smaller compressive strength
of lightweight bricks.
