Implementasi Sertifikasi Guru Dalam Rangka Meningkatkan Profesionalitas Guru (Studi Pada Guru Smp Di Kecamatan Bukit Kapur Kota Dumai)
Teacher certification is the process of providing educator certificates to
teachers who have met the requirements. Teacher certification is the process of
providing educator certificates to teachers who have met the standards of the
teaching profession. Teacher certification aims to: (1) determine the feasibility of
teachers in carrying out their duties as professional educators, (2) improve
learning processes and outcomes, (3) improve teacher welfare, and (4) increase
teacher dignity; in order to realize quality national education.
This research is qualitative, the method used is descriptive. Sources of
data used are primary data and secondary data, The technique used is purposive
sampling. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, literature
study and documentation. Data validity with source triangulation and method
triangulation. The data analysis technique used is a case study approach.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) the
implementation of teacher certification in improving teacher professionalism (a
case study on junior high school teachers in Bukit Kapur District includes several
things: (a) regarding preparation and planning, learning process and evaluation.
Preparation from the teacher, students and schools are not optimal (b) The
learning methods used by teachers are lecture, discussion, out class and play
‘methods (c) Learning evaluation includes evaluation of processes and results (2)
The impact of teacher certification for students, teachers and schools are: ( a)
Positive Impacts, including: Increased teacher teaching motivation, Teachers are
more varied and creative in teaching methods, Improving teacher welfare,
Increasing teacher professionalism (b) Negative Impacts, including: Teachers
who have not been cenified teaching hours are reduced and social jealousy
among the community (3) The obstacles faced and the efforts made in the
implementation of teacher certification are: (a) Obstacles namely: School
infrastructure is still limited, student activity is lacking, certified teachers lack
teaching hours, (b) Efforts, namely: There is communication between teachers
and school principals regarding the subjects being taught, Adding classrooms or
student capacity, and Completing school infrastructure.
