Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Glikol Dari Etilen Oksida Dan Air Menggunakan Proses Hidrasi Non Katalitik Dengan Desain Alat Utama Continuous Stirred Tank Reaktor (R-101)
Ethylene glycol is an organic compound with the molecular formula C2H6O2 which is included in simple diols, in the current industrial era ethylene glycol has an important role and is widely used as antifreeze in car radiators and as raw material for the manufacture of polyester fiber, in addition to being an auxiliary material in the latex industry and coolant in compressors. The main raw materials used in the manufacture of ethylene glycol with a non-catalytic hydration process are ethylene oxide and water. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours / day with a capacity of 500,000 tons / year which will be established in the city of Cilegon, Banten. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main tool design at this plant is a reactor (R-101) which functions to react ethylene oxide and water into ethylene glycol. The continuous stirred tank reactor is operated at a pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 190 ⁰C. Economic analysis in the design of this plant shows that this plant is feasible to be established. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value of 42.68%, Pay Back Period (PBP) for 1 year 4 months, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 61.14%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.77%.
