Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Levulinat Dari Tandan Kosong Sawit Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Asam Levulinat (MD-301)
Levulinic acid or 4-oxopentanoic acid is a compound that has ketone and carboxylic acid groups. Levulinic acid itself is widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, fuel additives, agricultural products, coating materials, solvents, polymer industry, plastics industry and others. Until now, the need for levulinic acid in Indonesia is still imported from countries such as China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom and Vietnam. Levulinic acid is usually produced using agricultural waste, such as rice straw waste, tamarind fruit, elephant yam, corn cobs, empty palm fruit bunches and other sources that contain cellulose. Indonesia is a country rich in resources that have the potential to produce raw materials for the production of levulinic acid. A study regarding the feasibility of building a Levulinic Acid factory is necessary. From a financial perspective, factory construction can be carried out with an NPV value of IDR 5,724,591,839,158.93; IRR 22.75%; ROI 35.5%, PBP 2.8 years; and BEP 25%. The suggestion for building this factory is that the regional government plays a role in attracting investor interest and facilitating and becoming a mediator between related parties in carrying out cooperation so that the factory construction can run smoothly.
