Prarancangan Pabrik Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Dari Etilen Glikol Dan Asam Tereftalat Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Esterifikasi 2 (R-102)
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic plastic polymer resin from the polyester group. PET is widely produced in the chemical industry and is used in synthetic fibers, beverage bottles and food containers, thermoforming applications, and combined with glass fibers in engineering resins. The main raw materials used are terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 174,000 tons/year which will be established in Serang Regency, Banten Province. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is the esterification reactor 2 which functions to form PET with a DP of 20. The esterification reactor 2 is operated at a pressure of 1 atm and temperature 270oC. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to build. With a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 50%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 3.01 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 33.28%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.60%.
