Prarancangan Pabrik Ethylene Glicol Dari Dimetil Oksalat Dan Hydrogen Dengan Desain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi (T-102)
Ethylene Glycol is a chemical substance derived from the ethylene compound with the chemical formula C2H6O2. Ethylene glycol is used as a poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic resin, polyester fiber material for clothing, rubber coatings, fiberglass manufacturing, car engine coolant, and hydraulic brake fluid. The need for ethylene glycol in Indonesia is still met through import activities. The ethylene glycol plant is planned to operate for 330 days 24 hours with a capacity of 210,000 tons/year which will be built in the Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC) Industrial Area, Citangkil sub-district, Cilegon City, Banten. The raw materials used in the design of this factory are Dimethyl Oxalate and Hydrogen using the hydrogenase process. The main tool design in this factory design is a Distillation Tower operating at a pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 1800C. Economic analysis of the design of this factory shows that an ethylene glycol factory using a hydrogenation process is feasible to establish with a Return of Investment (ROI) value of 63.55% and a Payback Period (PBP) of 1 Year 6 Months 27 Days.
