Pengaruh Dosis Tawas Dan Poli Aluminium Klorida Serta Waktu Sedimentasi Terhadap Penyisihan Logam Besi (Fe) Dan Logam Mangan (Mn) Dalam Air Sumur Menggunakan Proses Koagulasi Dan Flokulasi
Groundwater is the most widely used water source to fulfill sanitation needs. However, groundwater often contains heavy metals such as Fe and Mn which can cause corrosion, odor, color, taste and health problems to users. One of the effective water treatment methods in heavy metal removal is coagulation and flocculation. This study aims to compare the ability between alum and poly aluminum chloride with dose variations of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 mg/L and compare sedimentation times of 30 and 60 minutes on Fe and Mn removal. Operating conditions were 150 rpm for 1 minute of fast mixing, 30 rpm for 20 minutes of slow mixing and pH at 5.34. Determination of the best coagulant type and sedimentation time was carried out through non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests with an α value of 0.05. The results of Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests showed that poly aluminum chloride had a significant effect in removing Fe compared to alum with values of 0.013 and 0.012 (asymp sig > α), while the results of the Kruskal-Wallis test on sedimentation time showed that 30 minutes was more effective and efficient with values of 0.232 and 0.407 (asymp sig > α). The removal efficiency under the best conditions, namely the use of poly aluminum chloride coagulant and sedimentation time of 30 minutes reached 96.18% Fe and 58.73% Mn which occurred at the best dose of 25 with a final water pH value of 5.21 and treatment cost of IDR 2.500 per m3.
