Prarancangan Pabrik Benzil Klorida Proses Klorinasi Toluen Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Toluen (T-101)
The need for benzyl chloride in Indonesia reaches 950368 kg/year. Currently there is no factory that produces benzyl chloride so Indonesia imports it from abroad such as China. Benzyl chloride can be formed through the chlorination process. In the chlorination process, toluene is reacted with chlorine and produces benzyl chloride with high purity. In the chlorination process, the reaction occurs at bubble reactor (R-101), then separated using two distillation towers. In distillation tower I (T-101) it is used to separate benzyl chloride from the raw material toluene which does not react in the reactor so that the toluene can be reused. In distillation tower II (T-102), the process of separating benzyl chloride from the by-product, namely benzal chloride, is carried out. A study regarding the feasibility of building a benzyl chloride plant is necessary for the purpose of analyzing investment feasibility. The study results show that a benzyl chloride factory is feasible to build with a production capacity of 15,000 tons/year. Based on non-financial analysis consisting of market, environment, management and law, there are no obstacles that hinder the construction and operation of the factory. Based on financial analysis, factory construction can be carried out with an NPV value of Rp. 35,840,561,866; ROI 39.51%; POT 2.59 years; The BEP is 40%, and the IRR is 22.63% which is higher than the RRR value so that this benzyl chloride plant is suitable to proceed to the construction stage.
