ABSTRACT
Indonesia is one of the developing countries, which continues to experience growth. The need for acrylonitrile is quite a lot in Indonesia. But currently, the need for acrylonitrile is met by imports from other countries. Acrylonitrile is used as a chemical intermediate component in the manufacture of acrylic fibers, plastics, synthetic rubber and many other products. The purpose of this pre-design factory is to meet the domestic demand for acrylonitrile, increase the country's foreign exchange by exporting acrylonitrile products, create new jobs to reduce the unemployment rate, and support the development of the industry. The location of the factory is planned to be established in the Basilam Baru area, Sungai Sembilan District, Dumai City, Riau Province with a production capacity of 800,000 tons/year, using a distillation tower (T-103) as the main tool. The economic feasibility analysis shows that the acrylonitrile plant is feasible to be established, with a Payback Period (PBP) of 1,026 years, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.55%, a Return of Investment (ROI) of 97.437%, and a Break-Event Point (BEP) of 49.58%.
