Prarancangan Pabrik Methyl Tert-Butil Eter (Mtbe) Proses Phillips Star Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Esterifikasi (R-101)
ABSTRACT
This research aims to design a Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) plant using the Phillips STAR process with the main tool design for the Esterification reactor (R- 101). MTBE is used as a fuel additive to increase octane number, reduce pollutant emissions, and improve engine performance. The factory is planned to be located in Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau, under the name PT. By Chemical, and has a production capacity of 100,000 tons per year. The establishment of this factory supports economic growth and sustainable industrialization in Indonesia. The factory design includes raw material preparation, esterification reaction processes, separation, purification, and the use of adsorption columns. Economic analysis shows the feasibility of the project with an NPV of IDR 534,258,210,624, TCI of IDR 125,049,056,869, IRR 2273%, ROI 2033%, and BEP 11%, exceeding
BRI Bank's RRR of 2255%. The conclusion of this research confirms that the establishment of a 100,000 ton per year MTBE factory in Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau, is technically and economically feasible, supports domestic MTBE needs, and has the potential to provide significant economic benefits for Indonesia.
