Perancangan Pusat Edukasi Daur Ulang Sampah Di Kota Perawang Dengan Penerapan Prinsip Nature In The Space

ABSTRACK
Population growth and industrial activities in Perawang City, Tualang District,
Siak Regency, Riau, have increased the amount of waste produced. Although the
local government has organized waste management through waste banks since
2017, community participation in waste management is still low. Around 100 to 150
tons of waste enter the landfill every day, with 60% of it being inorganic waste that
is difficult to recycle. Public awareness of the importance of sorting and recycling
inorganic waste is still minimal, so more intensive education efforts are needed.
Thus, the Waste Recycling Education Center is designed to educate the public about
the characteristics of various types of inorganic waste and be directly involved in
the recycling process. The research method used is descriptive qualitative in the
form of case studies and combined strategies to determine the most appropriate
theory in supporting the design strategy. The design of this object applies the
principle of Nature in the Space which creates a good relationship between humans
and nature through the direct presence of natural elements, so as to improve the
quality of life of its users and also the surrounding nature in line with the function
of the building, and can encourage community creativity and innovation in waste
management. By applying the cyclical concept, it will be able to reflect how this
facility will continue to live and function properly.
