ABSTRACK
Optical Brightenic Agent (OBA) is a compound that can provide a light effect on an object exposed to light, so that the object will be whiter and more radiant. The utilization of OBA in the paper industry is used as an auxiliary material in achieving the optical properties of paper in accordance with the specified standards. OBA consists of three types, namely disulpho, tetrasulpho, and hexasulpho. This study aims to determine the effect of adding OBA wet end and surface on increasing the brightness, whiteness and color values of art board grades. The samples used in this study are 300 GSM art board products, with dose variations of 1:41, 2:41, 3:41, 4:41, 5:41, 6:41, 7:41 Kg/TP. From the results of the research conducted, the highest base paper brightness value was 84.29% and the highest reel brightness was 93% with a dose of 7:41 Kg / TP; base paper whiteness was 97.66% and reel whiteness was 124.66% with a dose of 7:41 Kg / TP, L* was 90 - 91, a* was 1.8 - 2.2 and b* was -8.9 to -9.7.
