Evaluasi Nilai Abrasi Pada Rasio Gcc : Pcc Sebagai Filler Dalam Proses Pembuatan Kertas
ABSTRACT
Abrasion is the process of eroding or reducing material from the surface of an
object due to friction with other materials. The abrasive nature of fillers can
cause problems during and after the formation of paper sheets. To know the filler
material will be abrasive is by looking at the mohs hardness scale. The purpose of
this study is to determine the relationship between the chemical composition of the
filler, the quality of the filler, and the variation of the filler ratio to the abrasion
value and brightness produced. Data collection used in this study was obtained
primary by conducting experiments in the laboratory and secondary data
obtained from checking special test reports at Lab Central. Based on the results of
the analysis, the calcium carbonate content in both fillers grounded calcium
carbonate (GCC) and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is >97%. Abrasion
and brightness values obtained from pure GCC filler are 13.77 g/m2 and 91.10%
ISO, while pure PCC filler is 31.14 g/m2 and 94.67% ISO. Variation of filler ratio
in Offset Paper (OR) grade and Copy Paper (CR) grade produces abrasion and
brightness values that match the pure quality values of both fillers.
Keywords: abrasion, brightness, filler, grade, ratio.
