Pengaruh Rasio Needle Bleach Kraft Pulp (Nbkp) Dan Bleach Chemi-Thermo Mechanical Pulp (Bctmp) Terhadap Kekuatan Paperboard Pada Middle Ply
ABSTRACT
Paper is a sheet structure made from pulp and other materials as additives with specific functions. Paper is available in several grades, some of which are distinguished by weight. Paper weighing >190 g/m2 (grams per square meter) is referred to as paperboard. Paperboard is a thick and strong paper-based material that has 3 layers, commonly used to make products such as packaging, boxes, and covers. Paperboard is made by combining several layers of pulp that are pressed together to create a sturdy material. The problem that exists in the paperboard industry is the strength properties because it will affect the quality of the final product before it is sent to the customer. Some strength properties that must be maintained are internal bond, fold endurance, bursting strength and so on. Internal bonding is a value to determine how strong the fiber bond is on the paper or to test the uniformity of the fibers in the paper sheet. Folding endurance is a number that states how many times a sheet of paper can be folded or bent until it is damaged or broken under standard conditions. Bursting testing aims to determine the penetrating strength or breaking power of paperboard expressed in kPa (kilo Pascal). The results of this study show that the optimum ratio of this study is at the 5th ratio with the composition of the pulp blending ratio (needle bleach kraft pulp refined 20%, bleach chemi-thermo mechanical pulp refined 60% and broken pulp 20%) with the obtained values for internal bond 122,441 J/m2, fold endurance 24 times, and bursting strength 380 kPa.
