Analisa Pengaruh Konsentrasi Sulfur Dioksida (So2) Terhadap Konsentrasi Sulfit Pada Proses Dechlorinated Brine Tank
ABSTRACT
The dechlorination process in the brine tank is a process to remove the remaining chlorine dissolved in the weak brine solution using sulfur dioxide (SO2) as a reductant. SO2 solution is a solution formed when sulfur dioxide gas (SO₂) dissolves in water (H₂O), colorless with a pungent odor. Concentration is the amount of a solute in a homogeneous mixture (solution). The methods used in this study are iodometric and iodimetric titrations, which are titrations that use thiosulfate to measure the concentration of SO2 and iodine to measure the concentration of sulfite. The purpose of the experiment was to analyze the effect of SO2 concentration on sulfite concentration in the dechlorinated brine tank process. The SO2 concentration used was varied from the concentration of 4,5,6,7,8 g/L, the SO2 flow was 1500 l/h and the electric current used was 87 kA. So the results obtained are SO2 concentration of 4.1 g/L, the measured sulfite concentration is 34.1 ppm, 5.2 g/L, sulfite concentration increases to 41.6 ppm, 6.5 g/L sulfite concentration increases to 46.7 ppm, 7.3 g/L sulfite concentration increases to 53.0 ppm, and at SO2 concentration of 8.1 g/L sulfite concentration increases to 60.6 ppm.
