Converting Kraft Pulp Eucalyptus Pellita Menjadi Dissolving Pulp Menggunakan Metode Cold Caustic Extraction (Cce) Dengan Penambahan Variasi Dosis Caustic
ABSTRACT
Dissolving pulp is a pulp that has a higher quality than pulp in general. One of
the features of dissolving pulp is that it has an alpha cellulose value of at least
94% (SNI 938: 2017 - Pulp Rayon). While the kraft pulp Eucalyptus pellita made
by pulp machine also comprises 92% alpha cellulose. Therefore, this study was
conducted to analyze the results of the dissolving pulp manufacturing process
using the Cold Caustic Extraction (CCE) method with caustic variations of 6%,
10%, 12%, and 16% from the raw material kraft pulp Eucalyptus pellita. From
the results of the study, it was found that the highest alpha cellulose value was in
the 12% caustic variation, namely 94.6% which obtained a yield value of 90.63%.
In addition, other analysis was carried out, beta cellulose is 42%, gamma
cellulose is 1.2%, brightness is 90.4 %ISO, viscosity is 10.0 cP, intrinsic viscosity
is 562.1 mL/g and swelling is 8.1 m3/g. The quality parameters of the dissolving
pulp produced meet the SNI 938:2017 standard - Rayon pulp.
