Analisis Pengaruh Kenaikan Load Chlor Alkali Electroyzer Terhadap Kinerja Dan Proses Elektrolisis
ABSTRACT
Electrolysis is the main process in the alkaline chlorine industry. Electrolysis is a method of separating compound bonds by passing an electric current through compound bonds. This study aims to analyze the effect of load variation in chlor alkaline electrolyzer on the performance of the electrolysis process in producing caustic soda (NaOH) and chlorine (Cl₂) in the pulp and paper industry. This study is motivated by the importance of efficiency and stability of the production process of these key chemicals, which greatly affect factory operations. The method used is an experimental study and analysis of operational data on chlor alkali plant units in the pulp and paper industry. Variations in the load (electrical load) given to the electrolyzer are observed at several points (40, 45, and 50 KA). The parameters analyzed include temperature, flowrate, power consumption, and the amount of NaOH and Cl₂ production. Data is collected directly from the plant and analyzed to determine the relationship between load and process performance as well as factors that affect operating stability. The results showed that the increased load on the electrolyzer significantly increased the production of NaOH and Cl₂, but also led to an increase in electrical energy consumption and a change in operating temperature. The main factors that affect the performance stability of an electrolyzer include temperature control, flowrate balance, energy consumption efficiency, and reliability of the cooling system.
