The learning process is an interaction between teachers and students. Learning motivation is an important factor in this process. Students with high motivation tend to be more active and eager to participate in class. However, student learning motivation at SMA Negeri 1 Rambah is lacking. They tend to get bored quickly, lack enthusiasm, and are passive when the teacher asks them to ask questions about the lesson material. To increase student motivation, active learning strategies must be implemented, such as the Active Learning Start with a Question technique. This study analyzed the effectiveness of the Active Learning Start with a Question technique in increasing student motivation at SMA Negeri 1 Rambah. This study employed an experimental method, selecting two classes as samples. The first class was an experimental class that received treatment in the form of an active learning strategy called the Learning Start with a Question technique. The second class was a control class that did not receive treatment. Data were obtained through observation and a questionnaire. The data were tested using a paired sample t-test.
The results showed that the active learning strategy, Learning Start with a Question, increased student motivation and engagement in the teaching and learning process. The paired sample t-test revealed a value of 0,000
