ABSTRACT
Petroleum as a fossil fuel that produces oil and natural gas, as well as
sediments. Riau is known as the largest oil and gas producer with work areas spread
across several districts. With a huge influence on the oil and gas industry, a
museum is needed as a place to store the history of the development of petroleum
in Pekanbaru as the capital Riau Province. A museum is an institution that collects,
archives, protects, exhibits, interprets material evidence and explains information
for society. The museum is not only a place for storing ancient objects but also as
a place for research, learning, and conservation of these objects. The museum have
educational missions in each generation, because the museum is a repository of state
assets of historical and monumental value. Educational architecture is one of the
emerging approaches to support buildings into functional and informative
buildings. Through the approach, activities at the museum can delivered in an
attractive manner, so that the delivery of information is easily understood by the
public. By applying the approach, it is in line with the main purpose of the museum,
the delivery of information from the Petroleum Museum will be maximized.
