ABSTRACT
The rapid economic development in the city of Pekanbaru makes the need
for housing high, land is getting less and the price is expensive making it difficult
for the lower middle class to meet the needs of decent housing near the city.
Pekanbaru is a big city that lacks social space to interact in a comfortable residence
by responding to climatic conditions. Currently Pekanbaru City is experiencing
population density, so there needs to be a new form of housing as a solution to the
problem of population density in order to minimize the problem of slum settlements
and the lack of green land. Sustainable vertical housing is a building that maximizes
the quality of the building by reducing the negative impact on the environment as
small as possible. This design uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting
data from journals and case studies with buildings that have been built.
Architectural work in the form of design vertical housing with the application of
sustainable vertical housing in Pekanbaru, so that this building vertical housing
can be a new picture to respond to the problem of population density in the city of
Pekanbaru.
