Indonesia as a country that has an archipelago is very closely related to sea transportation modes. Ship are a mode of transportation that is often found in Indonesian water, both local and foreign ships often operate in the Indonesian archipelagic sea lanes. In Indonesia activitirs from the sea contribute 3% of emissions due to exhaust gases, this is because currently the majority of ships still use fuel energy which results in increased pollution. This impact is a serious concern from all parties and the international community sho that air pollution in the sea area can be overcome by various kinds of innovations and using envitonmentally friendly energy for activities in the water area.
This research is a normative legal research. This is based on library research that takes quotes from reading books, or supporting books that have something to do with the problem to be studied. This study uses secondary data sources consisting of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. This study also uses qualitative data analysis and produces descriptive data.
Based on the result of the discussion that the impact of emmissions due to shipping in the Indonesian archipelagix sea lanes also participates and is a factor causing the worsening of water quality in Indonesia. In addition, the impact of these emissions also affecth human health, the environment (Marine life), and the country’s economy. In the future the concept of onshore power supply, Green Shipping, Green Boat, and Green Navigation as an effort to save the envirorenment in Indonesian waters neefs to be increased, then environmentally friendly ships are a solution to water pollution in Indonesian waters, with the awareness of the parties and supperted by Indonesian goverment policies it is expected that emissions due tho ship activities in Indonesian water can be improve water quality in Indonesia.
