The background of this research is that the teaching profession is regarded as a noble calling, playing an important role in shaping the character and future of students. Interest in becoming a teacher has increased among education students, driven by improved benefits such as professional allowances and supportive government policies. With guaranteed benefits until retirement, the teaching profession has become an attractive career choice, offering positive social impact and economic stability. Interest in pursuing a teaching career continues to grow, as evidenced by the increasing number of students choosing education programs at the University of Riau. This university supports government programs such as Kampus Mengajar and Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) to train professional teachers. The growing number of students in education programs indicates a rising interest in becoming teachers. This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy and family background on students' interest in becoming teachers. This research is categorized as quantitative. The population in this study consists of 536 students from the Social Sciences Education Department at the University of Riau, specifically from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts, with a sample of 84 students. The sampling technique used is random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique employed is multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that there is a positive and significant influence of self-efficacy and family background on interest in becoming a teacher, as indicated by the F-test result, where the sig F value is 0.000 < 0.05. This means that self-efficacy and family background together (simultaneously) have a positive and significant influence on interest in becoming a teacher. The contribution of self-efficacy and family background to the interest in becoming a teacher is 36.5%. Based on the analysis, self-efficacy has a greater influence compared to family background.
