This research is motivated by the increasing number of vehicles in Pekanbaru, which demands effective parking management to reduce traffic congestion and ensure orderly use of public spaces. A well-structured parking policy aids in traffic regulation and enhances road user convenience.
The research purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of parking management in Pekanbaru City and identify the factors influencing this policy’s effectiveness. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Primary data was obtained directly through interviews with informants, including the Head of the Pekanbaru City Transportation Department, the Head of Urban Transport, the Head of the Parking Management Unit, Parking Coordinators, and the community.
The research results that the implementation of parking management in Pekanbaru City has not yet achieved the desired results. Challenges include a lack of skilled human resources and adequate funding. Although there has been some progress, there are still obstacles, such as insufficient public awareness, enforcement of penalties, and resource limitations that need to be addressed.
