ABSTRACT
Langgam Intersection is one of the signalized intersections located in Pangkalan Kerinci City, Riau Province. This study analyzes the impact of widening the legs of Langgam Intersection in Pangkalan Kerinci City on the performance of the signalized intersection. This intersection experiences high traffic volumes, particularly heavy vehicles, resulting from industrial activities in the surrounding area. At the end of 2022, a road widening project was undertaken to improve the intersection's capacity and reduce queues and delays during peak hours. This study utilizes traffic data from 2019, 2023, and 2024, comparing the analysis results using the HCM 1997 and HCM 2023 methods to evaluate the intersection's performance based on both approaches. The findings indicate that road widening has not been entirely effective in alleviating congestion, particularly during peak hours, due to the high traffic flow in the area.
