Ringkasan Eksekutif Prarancangan Pabrik Metil Fenil Keton (Asetofenon) Dari Carbide-Mobil/Badger Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Oksidasi Etilbenzena (R-102)
ABSTRACT
Indonesia has exported ten shipments of acetophenone through three suppliers to several countries, including China, Japan, and Singapore. However, since domestic production is still insufficient to meet demand, Indonesia still needs to import acetophenone from several countries. This situation presents a significant opportunity to establish a plant to meet domestic demand while competing with global producers from China, India, and Germany. In 2021, the global acetophenone market reached a value of USD 219 million and is expected to continue growing from 2022 to 2032. This growth is driven by acetophenone's role as a precursor in the production of various compounds, particularly in the perfume, soap, lotion, and cosmetic industries. Acetophenone production is generally carried out through the Carbide-Mobil/Badger Process, where the Mobil/Badger Process produces ethylbenzene via the alkylation of benzene, which is then converted into acetophenone through oxidation in the Carbide Process. The preliminary design of this plant aims to fulfill domestic acetophenone needs, reduce import dependence, save foreign exchange reserves, and create job opportunities to help lower unemployment rates. The plant is planned to be located in the Cilegon Industrial Area, Banten, with a production capacity of 15,000 tons per year. The Oxidation Reactor (R-102) will serve as the primary equipment in the production process. Based on an economic feasibility analysis, the establishment of this plant is considered viable, with a Payback Period (PBP) of 1.16 years, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 43.82%, a Return on Investment (ROI) of 85.94%, and a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 51%.
