Identifikasi Parasit Pada Kerang Darah (Anadara Granosa) Dan Udang Mantis (Squila Mantis) Di Kawasan Peraira Sinaboi Kabupaten Rokan Hilir Provinsi Riau
Mantis shrimp (Squilla mantis) is one of the main catch commodities of fishermen in the waters of Sinaboi. A decline in catch volume is suspected to be related to ectoparasitic infections. This study aims to identify the types of ectoparasites infecting mantis shrimp and to evaluate the level of infection based on the affected body organs and the environmental conditions of the waters. This research used a survey method. A total of 20 randomly selected samples were obtained from fishermen's catches. Clinical symptoms were observed, and microscopic analysis was conducted on target organs (walking legs, swimming legs, gills, and uropods) using a 0.9% physiological NaCl solution. Parasite identification was carried out based on the observed morphological characteristics Data analysis included parasite prevalence, intensity, and dominance, along with measurements of water quality parameters (pH, temperature, and salinity). The results identified four types of ectoparasites: Epistylis sp., Tetrahymena sp., Vorticella sp., and Zoothamnium sp. Tetrahymena sp. was the most dominant parasite with a prevalence of 20%, an intensity of 67 individuals per host, and a dominance of 78.13%. The uropod was identified as the main microhabitat, with a prevalence of 35% and dominance of 86%. The high infection level is suspected to be due to direct contact with the substrate and suboptimal water quality. These findings provide a scientific basis for the health management of mantis shrimp and the mitigation of parasitic infections in coastal waters.
