PERANCANGAN DAN PENGUJIAN IMPACT ATTENUATOR PADA MOBIL LISTRIK PARAMESWARA BERBASIS FSAE 2023
              In the development of science and technology today, many new ideas appear in the 
automotive world. One of them is a category of high-speed cars known as formula 
student cars among college students. This formula student car is equipped with 
safety components that protect the car and driver from accidents. Therefore, the 
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) developed a safety feature called the 
“Impact Attenuator”. Impact Attenuator is a safety component in Formula SAE 
cars that serves to protect the structural elements of the vehicle such as the chassis, 
the front of the bulkhead, and the driver. This tool serves as a shock absorber 
installed in the front of the formula student car. This study aims to design and 
analyse the impact attenuator that will be used in Parameswara formula student 
car using computational methods. The study was carried out with the help of 
computer simulations that refer to real conditions. Applications used Ansys and 
Inventor, with simulations performed in a 1:1 size ratio. This study uses the Inventor 
application to assemble the impact attenuator components and the Ansys 
application to run a simulated impact test, to determine whether the impact 
attenuator is designed to withstand impact loads in accordance with regulations. 
The results of this research show that the level of stiffness added to the impact 
attenuator can increase the amount of energy absorbed due to collisions, excessive 
deformation due to collisions can also be reduced. Impact attenuator type A can 
absorb a maximum energy of 4568.5 J with a maximum deformation of 14.5 mm, 
type B can absorb an energy of 6220.7 J with a maximum deformation of 17.27 mm 
and type C can absorb an energy of 7907.3 J with maximum deformation 8.02 mm.
