Uji Beberapa Konsentrasi Ekstrak Organik Daun Sungkai (Peronema Canescens Jack) Terhadap Mortalitas Ulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J.E Smith) Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important commodity used as food, animal feed, and industrial raw materials. In Riau Province, maize production is declining due to S. frugiperda infestation, which can cause losses of up to 40%. The use of synthetic chemical insecticides to control this pest has side effects such as pest resistance and ecosystem disruption. This study aims to test the effectiveness of organic extract of sungkai leaves (P. canescens Jack) as a botanical insecticide against S. frugiperda larvae in the laboratory. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with six concentration treatments (0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, and 1%) and four replicates. Parameters observed included time of onset of death, LT50, LC50 and 95, daily and total mortality, behavioral and morphological changes as well as temperature and humidity. The results showed that 1% concentration of sungkai leaf extract produced a total mortality of 52.5% with an initial time of death of 5.5 hours and LT50 for 47.5 hours. However, this concentration is not yet categorized as effective because it has not reached a mortality rate of ≥80%.
