Analisis Pengaruh Variasi Suhu Distilasi Terhadap Kualitas Bahan Bakar Menggunakan Gabungan Metode Pemurnian Oli Bekas
ABSTRACT
Used car oil will cause various problems if it is not managed properly. This is
because used oils contain a variety of hazardous components such as heavy
metals and carcinogenic substances. This study aims to look for optimal
conditions for refining used engine oil into alternative fuels, specifically focusing
on combining the Acid and Clay methods with distillation. The methodology of
this study involves a two-step purification process namely the Acid and Clay
method followed by the distillation method. Used oil samples were treated using
the Acid and Clay methods, using sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and sodium hydroxide
(NaOH) at 6%, followed by heating at 150°C for one hour at a stirring speed of
150 rpm, and deposition was carried out using 500 gr zeolite for 36 hours. This
will be followed by a distillation method at varying temperatures: 350°C, 400°C,
and 450°C. The quality of processed fuel is assessed based on parameters such as
density, specific gravity, viscosity, water level, heat value and visual appearance,
which will then be compared to the standards set by the Directorate General of
Oil and Gas Indonesia (Dirjen Migas 146 K/10/DJM/2020). The results showed
that the combination of the Acid and Clay methods combined with the distillation
method significantly improved the fuel quality of the refining results. The best
purification results were achieved at a distillation temperature of 450°C (Sample
B3), producing fuel with a density of 852 kg/m³, specific gravity of 0.853, viscosity
of 2.1 mm²/s, water content of 315 mg/kg, and caloric value of 11.009 Kcal/kg,
and clear and bright visual appearance (80%). This sample meets all the specified
quality standards so that it can be used as an alternative fuel, namely a substitute
for diesel.
