Potensi Arang Aktif Dari Kulit Jeruk Medan (Citrus Sinensis (L.)Osbeck) Sebagai Adsorben Ion Kadmium (Ii) Dan Timbal (Ii) alam Larutan
SUMMARY
Orange peels contain organic compound like cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin and
pectin, so it make orange peels have ability to be adsorbent. Purposes of this
research were to know about optimum concentration of NaOH as activator and to
obtaine characteristics and their ability for adsorption of lead (II) and cadmium
(II) solutions. Sample of orange peel activated carbon were characterized to
obtained moisture contain, ash contain, iodine adsorption and surface area and
also analysis of functional group by FTIR Spectrophotometer. After
characterization and analysis for adsorption of lead (II) and cadmium (II) solution
of activated and without activation orange peel. Result of this research showed
that optimum concentration of NaOH was 7.5% with 1.2% of moisture contain,
3.96% of ash content, 659.7703 mg/g of iodine adsorption and 39.1253 m2/g of
surface area and FT-IR spectrum showed the presence of functional group like
OH, aliphatic CH, C=O, C=C, carboxylate ion COO- from carboxyl function
COOH. Analysis of adsorption metal ion were obtained that orange peel activated
carbon better than without activation for both metal ion. Adsorption result for
each of orange peel with activation and without activation for Pb (II) ion were
99.66% and 94.61% respectively while 98.09% dan 94.09% for Cd (II) ion.
