Biosintesis Nanopartikel Perak Menggunakan Ekstrak Air Rimpang Jahe Merah (Zingiber Officinale) Dan Lengkuas (Alpinia Galanga) Dengan Bantuan Microwave Serta Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri
SUMMARY
The aim of this study was to determine the ability of Zingiber officinale and Alpinia galanga rhizome aquoeous extract as reducing agent of silver metal to nano-sized silver metal. Microwave was used in order reaction time. Silver nanoparticles was synthesized by mixing the water extract with 10-3 M silver nitrate solution. Various ratio of Zingiber officinale rhizome aquoeous extract and 10-3 M silver nitrate solution (v/v) were 1: 1; 1: 3; 1: 4; 1: 5; 1:10 and 1:20 while for various ratio of Alpinia galanga rhizome aquoeous extract and 10-3 M silver nitrate solution (v/v) was 1:1; 1:5; 1:10; 1:20 for the reaction time of 30; 60; 90; 120; 150 and 180 s. The formation of silver nanoparticles was monitored by color changing of solution reactions from colorless to yellow and dark brown. Color changing was to started at 60 s reaction and the color was darker by the increasing of incubation time. These biosynthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. UV-Vis spectra showed that the compounds were silver nanoparticles because they produced peaks at 405-500 wavelength. Among those various of ratio, it ws found that the ratio of 1:4 for Zingiber officinale rhizome aquoeous extract and silver nitrat produced the best spectra at 120 s reaction time; while the ratio of 1:10 for Alpinia galanga rhizome aquoeous extract and silver nitrate gave the best spectra at 180 s reaction time. Their antimicrobial activity was screened against both gram-negatif (P. aeruginosa) and gram-positif (S. epidermidis) bacteria. Antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles was better than Zingiber officinale and Alpinia galanga rhizome aquoeous extract.
