Perancangan Alat Press Dengan Sistem Ulir Untuk Menekan Press Tool Di Laboratorium Teknologi Produksi Universitas Riau
ABSTRACT
This study aims to design a screw-driven press tool as an alternative pressing mechanism for the Production Technology Laboratory at Universitas Riau. The use of a screw system in the press provides several advantages, including better control of pressing force, improved energy efficiency, and lower production costs compared to hydraulic or pneumatic systems. The design process was carried out with two alternative designs, each analyzed for structural strength using Autodesk Inventor software through the Finite Element Method (FEM). The methodology included collecting dimensional data of the press tool, designing components such as the frame, spindle, base, and trapezoidal screw, as well as simulating deformation, stress, and safety factor for each design. The analysis results show that the second design has lower deformation and stress, as well as a higher safety factor compared to the first design, making it more suitable for pressing mild steel plates. This tool enables the cutting of mild steel plates up to 1 mm thick and 90 mm wide to be carried out more easily without the need for conventional cutting machines. It is hoped that this design can serve as a reference for developing efficient and economical manual screw-driven press tools, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (IKM).
