This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that result in the occurrence of school dropouts in the upper middle economy in Mak Teduh Village, Kerumutan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. The focus of the research includes internal factors from aspects of intelligence, motivation, level of awareness, dislike of school, as well as external factors including, family, school and social. The research methods used are ethnography and qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this investigation include dropped children, parents, and community leaders. The results of the study indicate that the factors causing school dropouts include low learning motivation, lack of family support, and the influence of a social environment that does not support education. Supporting factors that help reduce dropout rates include the active role of the community and educational figures, while inhibiting factors include limited educational facilities and a non-supportive social environment. The dominant factors contributing to school dropout are low learning motivation and peer influence, particularly from friends who prefer working over continuing their education. This research provides insights and contributes to knowledge, especially regarding school dropout factors among children from economically capable families using a social approach case study.
