Pengaruh Jenis Pupuk Organik Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Produksi Tanaman Jagung Manis (Zea Mays Saccharata Sturt.)
ABSTRACT
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is one of the most widely cultivated horticultural commodities. This is because sweet corn has a sweeter taste and harvests faster than regular corn. Sweet corn is widely used as a food ingredient, because the nutrients contained in sweet corn are quite high. The demand for sweet corn continues to increase, so it is necessary to make efforts to increase the production of sweet corn. Efforts that can be made to increase the production of sweet corn is with organic fertilization. This study aims to determine the effect of each organic fertilizer and get the best organic fertilizer for the growth and production of sweet corn plants. This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The research was conducted from October 2020 to January 2021. This research was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 3 treatments and 6 replications to obtain 18 experimental units. The treatment used was P1 = chicken manure 20 t.ha-1, P2 = PEFB Plus compost 20 t.ha-1, and P3 = green manure Mucuna bracteata 20 t.ha-1. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width, time of appearance of male flowers, time of appearance of female flowers, harvesting age, weight of cobs with husks, weight of cobs without husks, and production per plot. Data were analyzed using variance and continued with testing Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The application of various types of organic fertilizers to sweet corn plants has a significant effect on the parameters of stem diameter, leaf length, harvest age, weight of cob with husk, and weight of cob without cob. Provision of chicken manure 20 t.ha-1 gave better results on the parameters of harvesting age, cob weight with husk and cob weight without husk.
