ABSTRACT
Soybean (Glycine max L.) is an important food crop for the Indonesian population and is used as a source of protein. Efforts made for fertility in ultisol soil are the provision of biochar and banana peel liquid organic fertilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of applying biochar, banana peel Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) and to obtain the best dosage combination of biochar and banana peel liquid organic fertilizer to increase soybean crop production in ultisol soil. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden and Laboratory of Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau From September 2021 to February 2022. The research was carried out experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Consists of 2 factors and 3 repetitions. Factor I: Dosage of biochar (B) which consists of 3 levels, namely: B0 = 0 t.ha-1, B1 = 4 t.ha-1, B2 = 8 t.ha-1. Factor II: Liquid Organic Fertilizer (P) consists of 3 levels, namely: P1 = POC banana peel 50 ml, P2 = LOF banana peel 100 ml, P3 = LOF banana peel 150 ml. Parameters observed were plant height, number of primary branches, number of effective root nodules, root dry weight (g), shoot dry weight (g), root canopy ratio, number of pithy pods (g), number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant , and the weight of 50 seeds. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and further tested with the Honest Significant Difference (HSD) at the 5% level. The results showed that increasing the dose of biochar fertilizer 8 t.ha-1 increased the growth and yield of soybean plants higher than other doses, increasing the concentration of LOF banana peel 150 ml.l-1 increased the growth and yield of soybean plants higher than other doses and the combination biochar fertilizer 8 t.ha-1 and LOF concentration of 150 ml banana peels showed the highest results for parameters plant height, number of effective root nodules, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, number of pods per plant, number of seed pods per plant, the weight of the seeds planted, and the weight of 50 seeds.
