Community participation in tackling Cases of Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) that
often occurs in Riau Province, one of which is along the Kuantan River, especially in the
Cerenti River, Cerenti District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. In addition to mining activities
that are not equipped with permits, gold mining activities also damage nature and ecosystems
and make life miserable for residents living along the river. The problem in this research is
how is Cerenti District Community Participation in tackling Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI)
in Kuantan Singingi Regency? The purpose of this study was to describe the Community
Participation of Cerenti District in tackling Unlicensed Gold Mining ( PETI ) in Kuantan
Singingi Regency in 2013-2019.
In this study, the researcher used a descriptive type of research with a qualitative
method approach. This research is located in Cerenti District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. For
research informants using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are
observation, interviews and documentation. To examine the problems raised in this study, the
authors conducted data analysis using descriptive methods. The results of this study can be
concluded that community participation in Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) in Cerenti
District, Kuantan Singingi Regency in 2013 - 2019. Forms of participation, participation
thoughts, labor participation, financial participation, community participation reporting to the
authorities and community participation in supervising PETI activities. The inhibiting factor
for the participation of the cerenti community in tackling Unlicensed Gold mining (PETI) in
Kuantan Regency is that there are still many people as gold mining workers without the
permit.
