ABSTRACT
Theuseofantibioticsforinfectionstreatmentinthelongtermmaycausebacteria
becomeresistant.Explorationofmicroorganismscapabletoproduceantimicrobial
compoundshavewidelybeenreported.Oneofwhichisactinomycetes,agrampositivebacteriathatproducevarioussecondarymetabolites.
Thepurposeofthis
studywastotestandselecttheabilityof20isolatesofactinomycetes(14isolates
from therhizosphereoftheSiak-siakplant(Dianellaensifolia)andsixisolates
from mangrovesoilinKualaEnok,TanahMerahdistrict,IndragiriHilir)in
inhibitingthegrowthofE.coliandS.aureus.Testingofantibacterialactivityusing
theplugagardiffusionmethodunderMuellerHintonAgar(MHA)mediumfor24
hours.Twoisolates(RK4andRW5)formedinhibitionzonesagainstE.coliwith
diametersof8mm and10.5mm,andS.aureuswithdiameters7mm and8mm
respectively.Basedontheresultsobtained,thetwoisolateswereclassifiedas
bacteriostatic.Inaddition,inhibitioncapabilityofRK4isolateswererespectively
classifiedintoweakinhibitorycriteriaagaintstwobacteriaandRW5isolateswere
respectivelyclassifiedintomoderateinhibitorycriteriaagaintsE.coliandweak
inhibitorycriteriaagaintsS.aureus.
