Peran Kelompok Diaspora Indonesia Mendukung Gastrodiplomasi Indonesia Di Inggris: Studi Kasus Bristol Indonesian Society
Indonesian gastrodiplomacy in the UK is carried out sporadically by the government by involving non-state actors or the Indonesian diaspora in the UK. Bristol Indonesian society as an Indonesian diaspora community in the UK with a mission to introduce Indonesia to the British public through Indonesian culture and cuisine, is present as a diplomatic actor who seeks to improve Indonesian gastrodiplomacy in the UK through its collaboration program with other international actors since 2015.
This research uses a neoliberal approach and uses the theory of public diplomacy, where Bristol Indonesia society as a non-governmental diplomacy actor carries out a program to promote Indonesian culture and cuisine in the UK in order to achieve more effective public diplomacy through collaboration and involvement of other international actors in the program. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method with research data collection techniques, namely primary and secondary data.
The results of this study indicate that the Bristol Indonesia society is one of the actors of Indonesian diplomacy in the UK in promoting Indonesian culture and cuisine, through the achievement of its interests in bringing together international actors in the implementation of annual cultural and culinary festivals, opening street food stands and other promotions of Indonesian culture in Indonesia.
