Hubungan Pengetahuan Tentang Kesehatan Mental Dan Karakteristik Demografi Dengan Status Mental Remaja

Abstract
Introduction: Adolescents are one of the groups who are vulnerable to mental health problems. Knowledge about mental health needs to be possessed by adolescents to maintain their mental status. This research aimed at determining the relationship between the mental health knowledge and demographic characteristics towards the mental status of adolescents. Methodology: This research used descriptive correlation design with cross-sectional approach. The sample of this research was 75 participants selected by using proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection tools used were the knowledge questionnaire on mental health and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) which had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis techniques were univariate and bivariate (chi square). Research: There was a significant relationship between mental health knowledge and the mental status of adolescents with p-value 0.000 < (0.05). Of all demographic characteristics, gender and birth order was associated with the mental status of adolescents with p value 0.006 < (0.05) and p value 0.000 < (0.05). Conclusion: Mental health knowledge and demographic characteristics (gender and birth order) have a significant relationship with the mental status of adolescents. To increase knowledge and reduce the number of abnormal mental status in adolescents, interventions that focus on education about mental health.
