Analisis Karakteristik Bog Burst Dan Peatball Pada Area Abrasi Dan Sedimentasi Pantai Gambut Tropis Pulau Bengkalis
Peatlands on the coast of Bengkalis Island are very important to pay attention to.
Peatlands have an important role in preventing drought, flooding, and able to
absorb and store large amounts of carbon to prevent the escape of greenhouse
gases into the earth's atmosphere which can have an impact on climate change. On
the west coast of Bengkalis Island, it is composed of peatlands which often
experience abrasion and sedimentation. This if left unchecked for a long time will
threaten the loss of islands and reduce territorial boundaries. So it is necessary to
do mitigation by conducting basic research first that examines the processes of
abrasion and sedimentation that occur on the west coast of Bengkalis Island. The
soil investigation method was carried out on Bog burst and peatball areas that were
sedimented by taking soil samples and conducting tests in the laboratory. The
results of the study showed that the peat soil in the Bog burst had a compressive
strength value of 0.10 – 0.50 kg/cm2, based on its maturity level, it was generally
classified as sapric on the surface, at a depth of 1-2 meters it was classified as
hemic and at a depth of 3 meters. classified as sapric, has low ash, medium ash,
and high ash. While peat soil in peatball has a compressive strength value of 0.11
– 3.43 kg/cm2, the maturity level is sapric, has an ash content of medium ash and
high ash.
