Model Fisik Perubahan Morfologi Pantai Gambut Akibat Gelombang
Frequently high activity in the coastal area causes coastal morphological changes become unavoidable. Peat coast is easier to be ravaged than other coast with different material. Peat soil is susceptible because there is a big gap on peat particle size variation. Peat is cohesive in the inner layer but loose on the surface. Meanwhile, peat coastal surfaces are hit continuously by wave. Peat coast morphological changes are influenced by abration and accretion. This experiment is conducted to know the abration and accretion by modelling the peat coast and also to know the characteristics of peat materials in Meskom Village coastal area. In this experiment, multipurpose teaching flume and wave maker are used by 5 wave variation and 2 slope variation, they are 1:7,5 and 1:10 (height:length), then the erosion and sedimentation occured after 4 hours are read. Vectrino instrument is also used in this experiment to obtain the suspension particle velocity. The result shows that the peat material that is used in this experiment has a low specific grafity start from 1,454 to 1,868, the highest velocity of the current is 0,338 m/s, occured at 1:10 slope, away from the peat coast in direction and the largest area of abration is occured in 1:7,5 slope at slice number 2.
