Prarancangan Pabrik Isobutilen Dari Isobutan Menggunakan Proses Catofin® Dengan Disain Alat Utama Menara Distilasi
Isobutylene is an intermediate product that has an important role in various
chemical industries. Considering the increasing demand for isobutylene while the
isobutylene producers themselves, especially in Indonesia, are still limited, it can
be concluded that the market for isobutylene factories is still very open, both
domestic and foreign markets. In Indonesia, the product, namely isobutylene, can
be distributed to MTBE and EBTE factories where isobutylene is used as a raw
material. Our final project proposes to design a new Isobutylene plant that meets
domestic isobutylene needs and reduces 55% of imported isobutylene needs. This
project can reduce the country's foreign exchange, and allocate jobs for local
workers. The Isobutylene plant has a capacity of 15,000 tons/year. At this capacity
is used to meet the needs of imports of Isobutylene. The Isobutylene plant is
planned to be built in the Lubuk Gaung area, Dumai city, Riau Province. To
produce high purity isobutylene in accordance with product quality standards, the
CATOFIN® process is used. The CATOFIN process consists of a catalytic
dehydrogenation process of isobutane raw material and using a catalyst. The main
design in this project is the Distillation Tower (MD-101) which is used for the
process of separating products with propane and propylene gases. Isobutylene
products produced are semi-finished goods that are used as raw materials for
production for other chemical industries. Economic analysis of this factory design
obtained Return On Investment (ROI) 38.37%, payback period (PBP) 1.99 years,
BEP 35% and IRR 22.75%. Feasibility analysis shows that the Isobutylene plant
project is feasible.
