Ekstraksi Minyak Atsiri Dari Bunga Cengkeh
ABSTRAK
Clove oil is one of the essential oils obtained from the extraction of clove flowers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of variations in sample treatment and extraction time on the yield of clove essential oil and to determine the characteristics of clove flower essential oil. Variations in sample treatment were carried out on dried clove flowers, namely without refining and varying the particle sizes of 20,40,60 and 100 mesh. Clove flowers weighed 166 g then put into a 2000 ml flask and added ±1000 ml of aquadest. The extraction process was carried out for 4 hours. The results showed that the highest yield was in the 20 mesh variation treatment. Characteristic tests on clove flower essential oil included: color, odor, specific gravity, refractive index and yield. From the analysis of the results of the clove oil color test, it was obtained that it was cloudy. The results of the odor test obtained were the distinctive smell of cloves, namely eugenol. The specific gravity value of the best extracted clove flower oil was 0.903 in the 20 mesh variation of clove flower. In the ethanol solubility test, the resulting oil was soluble in ethanol and a clear solution was obtained. The highest value of the clove flower's refractive index in the 20 mesh variation is 1.4961. Clove flower oil has a quality that complies with the quality requirements of SNI 3954: 2014.
