Modal Sosial Pada Masyarakat Nelayan Di Desa Mayangan Kecamatan Legonkulon Kabupaten Subang Provinsi Jawa Barat
Abstract
Fishing is a job full of challenges and very high risks, so a social capital is needed
to strengthen the relationship between fishermen so that they always synergize in
every fishing activity. The existence of social capital from the life of the fishing
community in Mayangan Village can be seen from the tradition of helping each
other, a social system based on kinship, mutual trust, cooperation, building
networks between fishermen, participating in social gatherings or organizations
and communities between fishermen, upholding social norms. This study aims to
analyze the elements of social capital and the function of social capital in fishing
communities in Mayangan Village, Legonkulon District, Subang Regency, West
Java Province. Primary data and secondary data are the data used in this study.
The data was obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. This
study uses a software-based qualitative method with analytical techniques in
Nvivo. Mayangan Village is a village that has elements of social capital consisting
of: Participation in a network, reciprocity, trust, social norm, values proactive, and
action. While the function of social capital in the fishing community in Mayangan
Village is to solve problems, unite the community, and build community
participation. It is necessary to increase the social capital of fishermen in
Mayangan Village in order to create a prosperous and harmonious fishing
community. High social capital has an impact on the business and income of
fishermen in Mayangan Village.
