ABSTRACT
The productivity of kurau net fishing gear is one of the important factors to increase catches. Many fishermen have caught fish using kurau nets in Sungai Raya waters. Kurau fish catches based on weight obtained as the main catch as much as 79.8% and the rest as by-catch as much as 20.2%. From the results of interviews with fishermen, the Kurau Net catch fishery has been overfishing. The purpose of this study was to determine the productivity of kurau net fishing gear in Sungai Raya waters. The benefit of this research is to provide data and information about the productivity of Kurau net fishing in Sungai Raya waters in improving management in the utilization of fish resources. The research method used is the survey method, then the calculation of the productivity of the kurau net fishing gear uses the Dahle (1989) formula in Warda (2013). The results show that the production of kurau net fishing gear for 4 years fluctuates every year. In the last 3 years, 2018- 2020, it shows that the production of kurau net catches is decreasing, it is suspected that there are symptoms of overfishing, this is supported by the interview process conducted with fishermen in Sungai Raya Village that catches are increasingly difficult to catch. obtained and the smaller the size of the fish caught.
