ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect of the
concentration of shallot extract and growing media on the growth of dragon fruit
cuttings, and to obtain the best concentration of shallot extract and growing media
for the growth of dragon fruit cuttings. The research was carried out
experimentally with 4 x 3 factorial arranged according to RAL. The first factor
was the concentration of shallot extract (A) namely A0: Control, A1: shallot
extract with a concentration of 25%, A2: shallot extract with a concentration of
50%, and A3: shallot extract with a concentration of 75%. The second factor is the
planting medium (M) consisting of 3 types, namely M1: Inceptisol soil mixture
and sand (4:1), M2: Inceptiol soil mixture and manure (4:1), and M3: Inceptisol
soil mixture and rice husk ( 4:1). Parameters observed were shoot emergence
time, shoot length, root length, number of roots, root volume, shoot fresh weight,
and shoot dry weight. The data obtained were analyzed using variance and
followed by the Honestly Significant Difference test (BNJ) at 5% level. The
results showed that the interaction between shallot extract concentration and the
planting medium was not able to increase the growth of dragon fruit cuttings. The
combination of 50% shallot extract and planting media mixed with soil and
manure tends to show the best results. Giving different concentrations of shallot
extract was not able to increase the growth of dragon fruit cuttings. The treatment
of growing media was able to increase the growth of dragon fruit cuttings on the
parameters of root length, shoot length, shoot fresh weight and shoot dry weight.
