This research was carried out from June 17 to July 16, 2021 in Sungai Kayu
Ara Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. This study aims to describe the
social interaction (cooperation), health, income and expenditure of fishermen's
households before the pandemic and during the Covid-19 pandemic in Sungai Kayu
Ara Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. The method used in this study was
qualitative with a descriptive type with a total of 11 informants. Informant
determination technique is carried out by purposive sampling. The data analysis
uses Descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of research that has been carried
out, namely : 1) the social interaction of fishermen's households before the Covid-
19 pandemic was free to interact with anyone, but since Covid-19 the community's
social interaction has seemed passive or has stopped, especially for social activities
involving many people. 2) Efforts made by fishing households in overcoming
health problems related to the Covid-19 pandemic are following health protocols,
using masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and vaccinating. 3)
Fishermen's household income during the Covid-19 pandemic has decreased due to
falling fish prices and disrupted marketing. 4) Fishermen's household expenditures
before the pandemic and during the pandemic did not change so much. In the
increasing expenditure of fishermen's households, the purchase of masks and
children's internet quota for learning.
